SEO marketing, or search engine optimization marketing, is the perfect solution for reducing your overall marketing budget, especially if you handle it yourself.  In short, SEO marketing is a catch-all term referring to all search engine optimization techniques that will help the promotion of a product or service. Search engine optimization relies on "solid, ongoing visibility efforts through increasing link popularity, engaging social media, and increasing theme relevance and sustainable high search engine rankings". Let's take a look now at local, organic, link building, white hat, and black hat SEO marketing

SEO marketing is the ways and means of getting your page ranked high in the search engine results pages. Users rarely want to search through millions of pages to get the information they need. This is why there is such a demand for getting a webpage noticed at the top of the list. If your business deals with a local geographical area, then local SEO marketing may be a good place to start.

Have you ever seen a map come up with a list of companies next to it when you do a search for a local business?  These map listings are very practical and useful for local searchers and a lot of times these listings also include information on the business being searched. As local search results become more common in the SEO marketing arena, they are often located on the first page of the search engine results. It would appear that local SEO marketing is an essential tool to increase sales prospects in today's world. If a user is searching for a carpet cleaner, plumber, or even a plastic surgeon, they may prefer local results to paid and organic listings.

However, local SEO marketing is also a form of organic SEO marketing. Organic SEO marketing is marketing that focuses on driving traffic and customers to a website by improving the placement of that website in the search results lists from popular search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo. On the other hand, it can also be thought of as driving traffic from social sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Higher organic search rankings prove to be cheaper and more effective than any other form of advertising for local businesses online.

Organic traffic is highly targeted and gives higher return on investment (ROI) than any other online source of traffic.  Organic listings are furnished free of charge by Google, but with competition rising for these limited positions, many firms are implementing specific optimization strategies to affect rankings.  In organic SEO marketing search engines check the contents of the website and allot them ratings.  Search engines dedicate more space to organic results because they know that most searchers see organic search engine results as unbiased and objective and statistics have shown that Internet users are far more comfortable with organic results in comparison to paid results. Growing your web site, especially through organic SEO, is just like growing a garden - so, cultivate it, sprinkle a few inbound links on it, and it will repay you for your effort.

Speaking of links, link building is the foundation of any good Organic SEO marketing. Search engines use them to determine a website's ranking. Embedding links inside the text of your website and the content that you distribute to outside websites is a subtle way to build your link count for SEO marketing purposes.  Articles need to be enriched with relevant keywords that could get your website sufficient links.  The 'little links' can start the snowball effect toward obtaining the 'bigger links'.  Are there quality links from other sources going to that domain that increase its reputation? To fully maximize its potential, remember to use "back links".  Back links are also known as incoming links, inbound links or IBLs.  Think of them as the reverse of hyper links: Hyper links take users from your site to another. Search engines have become quite adept at rooting out poor back links usage and search engines frown upon these links because they really don't offer the user any real information.

Black Hat VS White Hat: All of the previous strategies are examples of "white hat" SEO marketing, but there are those that would attempt to gain popularity quickly by questionable tactics. These are called "Black Hat" strategies. Black hat SEO marketing attempts to improve search engine rankings by deceiving the search engines at the cost of Internet users.  Black hat techniques can get your website ranked high quickly but will result in the banning of your website in the long term.  Black Hat SEO attempts to employ techniques that are not recommended as part of a good SEO design and incorporates taking short cuts and cheating your way to the top of the search engine.

In summary, SEO marketing, if applied properly, is a great way to get your website noticed on the top of the search engine results page either by going local, growing organically, using inbound links, back links or all of these strategies together. Remember, white hat techniques are going to bring "sustainable" high search engine rankings while black hat tactics might get it there for a short time before the search engines ban it from search inclusion.
